Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star nets match winner in China
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Jasond Gonzalez scored the match winner as Nantong Zhiyun FC beat Ningbo Professional 1-0 in the Chinese League One.
The Colombia international put the ball in the back of the net in the 77th minute, ensuring his team secure the maximum points in their bid for promotion.
Nantong climbed to third place in the log standings, having picked up 45 points, which has them trailing log leaders Guangdong GZ-Power with nine points.
Notably, only two teams earn promotion to the topflight division, with second-placed Guangxi Hengchen, who have amassed 45 points, also in contention.
Gonzalez, meanwhile, took his tally to 10 league goals and is the leading top scorer in the Chinese second-tier, with five matches left in the 2026 campaign.
He completed a move to China on a free transfer in July 2026 after parting ways with Bolivian side Club Always Ready upon his return from a loan spell in Israel.
The 27-year-old is no stranger to the Chinese second division as he previously spent time with Shijiazhuang Gongfu from July to December last year.
Contrary to his form in China, the Colombian striker failed to find the back of the net in 13 matches across all competitions during his time at Chiefs.
