Lionel Messi: The legend speaks about his plans after retirement!
The legendary Lionel Messi has revealed that, once he retires from football and hangs up his boots for good, he will not become a coach; instead, he prefers to become a club owner and enter the world of sports investment.
Messi wants to become a businessman and invest in football
Lionel Messi, has no intention of stepping into the dugout once he stops playing. Instead, as BBC Sport reports, the Argentine great is setting his sights on something far bigger: running a club of his own.
Word is that the 39-year-old wants to buy a significant slice of Inter Miami, the MLS side where he currently plays, and formally join its ownership group the moment he calls time on his career. What he will not do, however, is go home to Rosario. Any comeback with Newell's Old Boys — the club that shaped him as a boy — is off the table, whether on the pitch or in the boardroom.
For Messi, moving into top-level club ownership is simply the next step in a plan he has been quietly building for years. He has already taken control of the Spanish clubs Eldense and Cornellà, piece by piece constructing an international football empire that now bears his name.
Interestingly, his contract with Inter Miami is said to have included a special clause all along — one that gives him the option to become a minority co-owner of the Florida club on favourable terms once his playing days are behind him.
