FIFA: a new award is set to be introduced
FIFA, under the leadership of Gianni Infantino, is preparing to launch a brand new award.
As is tradition every year, FIFA honors the top figures in world football during The Best awards ceremony. However, starting next year, a new accolade will make its debut. This will likely be a fresh edition of The Best, but this time based in Dubai. The world football governing body made the announcement official in a statement released in recent hours.
“FIFA and the Dubai Sports Council have signed a memorandum of understanding during the World Sports Summit. This annual event will be FIFA’s only global awards ceremony, celebrating the leading figures in the world of football, both on and off the pitch. The inaugural edition will take place in 2026. In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, and His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, announced the creation of a new football awards ceremony, to be held annually in Dubai.
