FIFA hails Wydad's resurgence ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup!

The official website of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has spotlighted Wydad Casablanca's impressive reaction, clinching victory in the Clasico against AS FAR (2-1) during Matchday 28 of the Moroccan league.

In an article published on its online portal, FIFA praised the successful debut of new head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem, stating that "just one win can be enough to change the mood of an entire team."

Wydad impresses FIFA before the Club World Cup

The global governing body's website wrote: "In football, a single match can change the atmosphere and reverse the momentum. The ball is round, and its course can shift at any moment. It could be said that Wydad hopes this Clasico will be the turning point of their season ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup."

It added: "Just over a month before their historic appearance at the 2025 Club World Cup, Wydad seems to have sent a strong message to their fans and future opponents by overcoming AS FAR with a 2-1 victory."

FIFA then highlighted that the Casablanca club, record holders with 22 Moroccan league titles, hasn't had a season living up to their fans' expectations, slipping to third place in the standings. The clash with second-placed AS FAR was therefore a direct battle for one of the two coveted spots in the CAF Champions League.

Finally, the article concluded: "Wydad hopes to turn the page on a period marked by inconsistent results, gradually regain their balance, and calmly prepare for a major global challenge. The Club World Cup represents a unique opportunity for the club to write a new chapter in its history and proudly represent Moroccan football."
