FIFA ranking: the impressive rise of Côte d'Ivoire

Côte d'Ivoire has made an impressive rise in the FIFA rankings, which will be published by the world's football governing body on April 3.

The reigning African champion secured victories against Burundi (1-0) and Gambia (2-0) in matches counting for the 5th and 6th rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

With 16 points, they lead Group F, ahead of their closest rival Gabon by just one point.

According to the site football-ranking, Côte d'Ivoire has climbed to a new position, having previously held a different spot in the last ranking published by the International Federation of Football.

For the record, their best ranking was achieved in 2013, when they reached the 12th place on the international stage.

During the next international break, scheduled for June 2025, the last CAN winner will play friendly matches against New Zealand (June 8) and Canada (June 11).
