Final Day Showdown: EPL Title Race Goes Down to the Wire

The Egyptian Premier League title race's set for dramatic finale after both Al Ahly & Pyramids claimed crucial victories in the penultimate round of the championship phase.

Ahly Still in Control

Al Ahly defeated National Bank to raise their tally to 55 point holding onto narrow two point lead over Pyramids who also won against Petrojet.

One Round to Go

Only one match remains. Al Ahly will face Pharco while Pyramids take on Ceramica Cleopatra. The red devils need just 3 more point to clinch the title regardless of their rival’s result.

What Al Ahly Needs to Win

  • A win guarantees the title (45th in club history).
  • A draw's enough unless Pyramids win by 5 goal margin.
  • Even loss could still hand Ahly the trophy if Pyramids fail to win.

Points Deduction Controversy Settled

Earlier fears of 3 point deduction for Al Ahly due to their March withdrawal against Zamalek have been put to rest.

The Professional Clubs Association reversed the decision and the Appeals Committee upheld the ruling.

Legal Battle Brewing?

Zamalek announced it'll appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport CAS and Pyramids are reportedly prepared to follow suit if they lose the title by fewer than 3 point.
