Eintracht Frankfurt announced in an official statement on its website the details of the injury to their Tunisian international midfielder Ellyes Skhiri, which occurred during the match against Bochum, played on Sunday, March 16, as part of the 26th Bundesliga matchday.

The 29-year-old player suffered a knee injury after a fierce tackle from an opponent, forcing him to leave the field in the 87th minute.

A knee injury and several weeks of absence

According to the medical staff of the German club, medical examinations revealed damage to the left knee, an area already weakened by a previous injury sustained with the Tunisian national team against Mauritania in October 2021.

Skhiri will need to observe a rest period and follow a rehabilitation program estimated at a maximum of four weeks. He will thus miss the upcoming fixtures for Frankfurt as well as the Tunisian national team gathering for March.

Skhiri's absence is a major blow for the Carthage Eagles, engaged in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Tunisia will face Liberia away on March 19, before hosting Malawi on March 24, as part of the 5th and 6th qualification matchdays.
