Friendlies: Côte d’Ivoire squad list to be unveiled on May 23 (official)
The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has announced that head coach Emerse Faé will unveil the next Elephants squad on Friday, May 23, during an official press conference. This announcement comes as the June international break draws near.
The reigning African champions will play two friendly matches in Canada: against New Zealand on June 7, then against Canada on June 10, as part of a mini-tournament that also features Ukraine. The matches will take place in Toronto, at BMO Field.
Oumar Diakité set to miss out on the squad?
Since the announcement of the date, speculation has been rife regarding certain players. In particular, Oumar Diakité (21 years old, 15 caps, 2 goals), often seen as close to the coach but currently struggling at his club Stade de Reims.
With a lack of playing time and goalless since November, the striker could miss out this time, potentially making way for promising youngsters or in-form dual nationals.
This training camp will serve as crucial preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, as well as for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Elephants will aim to defend their continental crown.
