Friendlies: Ghana squad announced without Kudus or Partey!
Head coach Otto Addo has unveiled his 23-man squad for the 2025 Unity Cup friendly tournament, set to take place in London during the upcoming international break. Several key players are missing, while fresh young talents are set to make their mark.
Among the major new faces is Abdul Aziz Issah, receiving his first-ever call-up. The 19-year-old winger, on loan from FC Nordsjaelland to Barça Atlètic (Barcelona's reserve team), has only featured in two matches this season in Spain's third division, but is already generating significant excitement. He will be one of the young stars to watch during this international window.
A rejuvenated squad looking to the future
Alongside Issah, four other newcomers will get their first taste of international action: goalkeeper Joseph Anang (St Patrick’s), defender Aaron Essel (North Texas SC), midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi (Nordsjaelland), and forward Mohammed Fuseini (Union SG).
All of them will be eager to stake their claim for a place ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
On the flip side, several regulars will be absent: Mohammed Kudus, Kamal Deen Sulemana, Ernest Nuamah, Elisha Owusu, and Antoine Semenyo are all sidelined by injury, while Thomas Partey and Michael Baidoo are being rested.
Salis Abdul Samed makes his return, and experienced heads Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Gideon Mensah will be there to guide the group.
It’s worth noting that Ghana will face Nigeria on May 28, followed by a second match on May 31.
