Algeria faces Sweden this Tuesday evening at 17:00 GMT at Friends Arena in Stockholm, in a friendly encounter. This match is part of the Verts’ preparations for major upcoming challenges: the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Swiss coach Vladimir Petković continues to build his preferred starting eleven after the friendly win over Rwanda (2-1), a match that allowed several new faces to impress.

The Algerian squad is missing several key players: Youcef Belaïli and Mohamed Amine Tougaï, who have recently joined Espérance de Tunis ahead of the Club World Cup, will not be making the trip. Mohamed Amoura, Himad Abdelli, and Kévin Guitoun are also ruled out due to medical or physical reasons.

Despite being a friendly, this clash carries symbolic weight. Sweden holds a clear historical advantage, with four wins and one draw in five meetings against Algeria. The Fennecs are eager to turn the tide and claim their first-ever victory against a Swedish side also hampered by absences, notably Alexander Isak and Dejan Kulusevski.

A reshuffled lineup to challenge Sweden

Alexis Guendouz is expected to start between the posts. In defense, a back four of Naoufel Khacef, Aïssa Mandi, Ramy Bensebaïni, and Rayan Aït Nouri is likely. The midfield could be anchored by the duo Ismaël Bennacer and Houssem Aouar, joined either by Hicham Boudaoui or Farès Chaïbi, who are competing for the final spot in the engine room.

In attack, captain Riyad Mahrez will patrol the right wing, while Amine Gouiri is set to operate on the left. For the center-forward role, the coach is weighing up between Amin Chiakha and Saïd Benrahma, both candidates to spearhead the line.
