Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's heaped praise on Omar Marmoush commending the Egyptian striker for his swift adaptation and growing influence at the club during what he described as “unusual and difficult” season for the Premier League champions.
Marmoush who joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in Jan scored in the club’s recent 5 - 2 win over Crystal Palace, bringing his tally to 7 goals since his winter arrival.
Guardiola: “Marmoush Adapted in Tough Moment”
Speaking after the Palace win Guardiola applauded Marmoush’s ability to thrive in challenging circumstances, particularly with City battling wave of injuries and inconsistent form.
“His numbers are really good, He arrived in the middle of the season, at time when we weren’t at our best. Sometimes it’s easy for player to settle when things are going well. But coming in when the team's struggling and still making an impact that’s big achievement” Guardiola said.
Understanding City’s Style
The Spanish tactician also highlighted Marmoush’s energy, intelligence and ability to play within City’s possession based system, adding:
“When the team wants the ball, he runs well and understands the strength of play. He brings intensity and reads the game well”
Guardiola even suggested the egyptian could’ve scored more against Palace showing his faith in the player’s potential.
