"From London to the Metropolitano Again? Partey Could Rejoin Simeone’s Quest"
Atletico Madrid are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing back Thomas Partey as they look to strengthen their midfield for the 2025 -26 season.
With Partey's contract at Arsenal expiring in Jun 2025, the Spanish giants see golden opportunity to reunite with former stalwart of Diego Simeone’s engine room.
Familiar Territory for Partey
Partey enjoyed 5 successful seasons at Atletico before joining Arsenal in 2020. His departure left noticeable void in the club’s midfield and reports believe his discipline, tactical awareness and physicality would suit Simeone’s evolving system.
Although no official offer's been made, talks are expected to intensify especially if Arsenal fail to renew his deal or decide to cash in before he walks on free transfer.
Fitness Update: Fit for Real Madrid Showdown
Concerns over Partey's fitness were eased ahead of Arsenal’s champions league quarter final 2nd leg against Real Madrid. After being subbed off with knock in the 1st leg, the ghanaian midfielder confirmed his availability via Instagram posting image of himself boarding the flight to Madrid.
Manager Mikel Arteta later confirmed in his press conference:
“He's available he'd niggle but he felt good in the last few days so he's fine”
Partey'll be crucial as Arsenal look to protect their 3 - 0 aggregate lead following standout goals from Declan Rice & Mikel Merino at the Emirates.

Partey "We Know What We Have to Do"
Reflecting on his performance in the recent 1 - 1 draw with Brentford where he scored his 4th league goal, Partey highlighted the team’s focus ahead of the decisive clash at the Bernabeu:
“We've to go there with the mentality to win. Be confident with the ball and keep attacking”
What Lies Ahead?
If Arsenal don’t act soon, Atlético could swoop in this summer or even strike pre contract agreement in Jan 2025.
