Gabriel Mouléro, a new asset for the left flank of the Cheetahs
Exclusive
He is one of those discreet yet reliable talents. Gabriel Mouléro is set to make his debut with Benin's senior national team. The young left-back from FC Dila Gori (Georgia) has been included in Gernot Rohr’s squad for the friendly against Morocco scheduled for June 2025.
Before heading to Europe mid-season, he had already caught the eye in the Benin league: 12 matches, 3 goals, and 5 assists for Dynamo d’Abomey. His crossing ability, versatility, and work rate—Mouléro had all the qualities to stand out.
His hard work did not go unnoticed by Gernot Rohr. The Franco-German manager, who closely followed the gathering of dual nationals in Paris last March, was convinced:
We have invited a new left-back. It’s Mouléro (Gabriel). He did some great things during the training camp they had in Paris with Vincent Rautureau. He was one of the best. He deserves his chance. We want to see him.
Speaking to Foot-Africa, the versatile and hard-working 19-year-old did not hide his pride:
It’s a great honor for me to play for the senior national team. I’ve always dreamed of this. Now is the right moment. I’m happy for my first call-up, and I can’t wait to make my debut.
Having previously featured for Benin’s U20s, Gabriel Mouléro now returns to the national shirt at a higher level. As Gernot Rohr continues to invest in youth, the left-back who emerged with Dynamo FC d’Abomey could well represent the future of Benin’s left flank.
