Galatasaray Taunt Mourinho After Clinching 3rd Straight Turkish Super Lig Title

Galatasaray have been crowned Turkish Super Lig champions for the 3rd consecutive season and they didn’t miss the chance to take jab at their fierce rivals Fenerbahce and especially their high profile coach Josée Mourinho.

Mourinho's Arrival Sparks Hype, but No Glory

When the Portuguese tactician took charge of Fenerbahce last summer, hopes were sky high that he would end their long title drought.

Yet, it was Galatasaray who maintained dominance all season suffering just one defeat en route to securing the title with game to spare.

"The Real One" - Galatasaray’s Sarcastic Response

During lively title celebration, Galatasaray fans mocked Mourinho by raising a banner calling him "The world’s most expensive influencer" referencing the media buzz around his appointment which ultimately failed to deliver silverware.

Even coach Okan Buruk joined the mockery holding up laptop in his post match press conference, mimicking stunt Mourinho'd previously used to protest referees.

On the screen: "The Real One" and 5 stars symbolizing Galatasaray’s 25th league title.

Symbolic Taunts & Viral Videos

The trolling didn’t stop there. Viral videos showed Galatasaray lion mascot beside cage containing yellow canary (Fenerbahce’s symbol) and black eagle (representing Besiktas) suggesting Galatasaray's supremacy over their Istanbul rivals.

Some fans even went as far as carrying mock coffin for Fenerbahce decorated with crying Mourinho image , a symbolic farewell to their title hopes.

Fenerbahce Finish Strong , But Fall Short

Despite strong finish to the season, Fenerbahce ended up 2nd and will enter the Champions league qualifiers. Mourinho's reportedly set his sights on european return with the Turkish side.

Still his debut campaign was marred by criticism of Turkish football officials and friction with Galatasaray amid speculation he could take charge of Portugal’s national team in the near future.
