Ligue 2 champion with FC Lorient, Gédéon Kalulu will no longer wear the Merlus shirt in Ligue 1. At 27, the Congolese right-back is among the players being pushed out by the management, according to Le Télégramme. It’s a surprising decision for a player who featured in 20 matches this season and played a part in the club’s return to the top flight.

With his solid defensive skills, speed, and commitment, Gédéon Kalulu has been a crucial part of Lorient’s collective effort. Not always a starter, but always dependable. Standing at 1.76m, he makes up for it with sharp game reading and relentless tenacity.

Kalulu’s two seasons with Lorient have been a rollercoaster: relegation to Ligue 2, then the euphoria of a title and promotion back to Ligue 1. But the club’s new project seems set to move forward without him.
Free to move on, Kalulu isn’t done yet. His profile could attract interest from clubs in France or abroad. Trained at Lyon, he remains an experienced professional, ready for a new challenge.
