Gédéon Kalulu will not be retained by the club

Gédéon Kalulu’s adventure at Lorient is coming to an end. According to Le Télégramme, the Congolese defender will not be part of the Merlus squad for next season in Ligue 1.

The club, recently promoted to the top flight, has reportedly already informed the player of its decision. Despite their promotion, Lorient’s management wants to strengthen the squad with new profiles. And it seems Gédéon Kalulu is not part of their future plans.

Having joined two seasons ago, Gédéon Kalulu has never truly established himself as an undisputed starter. This season, he featured in 19 matches across all competitions. At 27, the Congolese international will need to find a new club during the summer transfer window. With his experience in both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, he shouldn’t be short of suitors.
