Getafe: Djené Dakonam hit with three-match suspension
Getafe’s Togolese centre-back, Djené Dakonam, has been handed a three-match suspension by the disciplinary committee of the Spanish Federation following his red card last Friday during the match against Rayo Vallecano in Madrid.
During the goalless draw (0-0) between Getafe and Rayo Vallecano, Djené Dakonam was sent off after making disrespectful remarks to referee García Verdura. According to the official report, the Getafe captain uttered a “Very bad” to the official before being restrained by teammates and several opponents due to his aggressive demeanor.
Following this sending off, the Spanish Federation’s disciplinary committee imposed a three-match ban on the player: one for the straight red card and two additional matches for his comments, in accordance with Article 124 of the disciplinary code, which sanctions contemptuous behavior towards officials.
This punishment will sideline Getafe’s captain and defensive leader for the next three La Liga matchdays, against Valencia, Athletic Bilbao, and Mallorca. Since the start of the 2024–2025 season, Djené Dakonam has featured in 30 La Liga matches for the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez outfit.
