Frustration Boils Over After Shock Result

Despite dominating with over 25 shots, City couldn’t break down Southampton’s resilient defense in their PL clash on matchday 36. Saints goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale stood tall, delivering standout performance that frustrated the title hopefuls.

Post match, Ruben Dias voiced his anger at Southampton’s defensive approach:

“It’s frustrating to play team that doesn’t even try to win. They sit back, waste time and slow the game down in every way possible - dry pitch, constant delays. Their keeper did it 20 times and got no booking, yet we get punished after just one” Dias said.

Pep Guardiola publicly disagreed with Dias comments choosing instead to praise the opposition.

“I don’t share Rúben’s view, I respect how Southampton played. It’s our job to break through and score. Today we didn’t. We didn’t expect such low block, so we needed more wide players” Pep said.

This result snapped Man City’s 4 game winning streak leaving them on 65 point in 3rd place & delaying their official qualification for the 2025 /26 Champions league.
