Guardiola: "Yamal’s Game Intelligence Is Incredible – But No One Matches Messi"

Pep Guardiola's showered praise on Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal, highlighting his extraordinary football intelligence & calmness under pressure despite being just teenager.

Guardiola: "His Game Understanding Is Incredible"

Speaking to DAZN, the Man City manager said:

"What’s being said about Yamal's true and amazing. Most players reach that level of maturity at 24 or 25. Sometimes it feels like talent like him should be involved in every attack"

Guardiola continued:

"Sometimes he just touches the ball once, relaxes for 3 minute, then returns with simple move or pass and suddenly he’s decided the game. His understanding of the game's incredible. Barcelona are very lucky to have boy with this vision"

"But He’s Not Messi"

Despite the praise, Guardiola drew clear line when it came to comparisons with Lionel Messi.

"I won’t say Yamal's like Leo. I’m sorry but there'll never be another Leo. No one in the world can compare to the Argentine. It’s impossible"

Guardiola managed Messi at Barcelona from 2008 to 2012, golden era in which the duo lifted three la liga titles and 2 Champions league trophies. He's repeatedly referred to Messi as the greatest footballer of all time.
