Guirassy to Barça? The clear opinion of a former Nigerian international
Serhou Guirassy

The 2024-2025 season for Serhou Guirassy has been nothing short of outstanding. In 47 matches played for Borussia Dortmund, the Guinean international has netted 37 goals and provided 6 assists. His performances in the UEFA Champions League have been particularly impressive. As the competition's top scorer, the 29-year-old striker has found the back of the net 13 times in just 14 appearances.

In a recent public statement, Emmanuel Amuneke praised the Syli National forward, calling him an "excellent striker" capable of making his mark in a highly demanding league like La Liga. However, despite these remarkable performances, the former Nigerian international and ex-FC Barcelona player expressed some reservations about Guirassy making a move to Camp Nou.

"Guirassy is a proven goalscorer who can play for any of Europe's top clubs, but can FC Barcelona really sign him? Make no mistake, Guirassy is an excellent striker and has been consistent over the past two or three seasons. If it were up to me, I would take him—I admire his qualities. But he is 29, and Barcelona are building for the long term. Looking closer, FC Barcelona have refocused on their academy and are no longer spending astronomical sums to bring in ready-made stars. I don't think they will go for him. With his contract, Dortmund would probably ask for over 60 million euros, if not more. It could work, but it's unlikely to happen," explained Emmanuel Amuneke.
