Hakimi’s Stellar Season Earns Him Marc Vivien Foe Award for Best African Player in Ligue 1
Paris Saint Germain right back Achraf Hakimi's been named the Best African Player in Ligue 1 for the 2024 – 2025 season, earning the prestigious Marc Vivien Foe Award after stellar campaign.
A Historic Honor
Hakimi 26, played key role in helping PSG clinch their record extending 13th Ligue 1 title. He beat out Ivorian striker Evann Guessand (Nice) & Senegalese midfielder Habib Diarra (Strasbourg) to claim the prize.
The award's named after late Cameroonian legend Marc Vivien Foe, a two time AFCON champion who tragically passed away during international match in France in 2003.
Second Defender, Fourth Moroccan
Hakimi becomes only the 2nd defender to win the award after DR Congo’s Chancel Mbemba in 2023. He's also the 4th Moroccan to earn the honor following Marouane Chamakh 2009, Younes Belhanda 2012 and Sofiane Boufal 2016.
Last year's winner was Gabon’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Eyes on a Historic Treble
PSG're chasing their first ever treble this season. They face Reims in the Coupe de France final on 24 May and meet Inter Milan in the Champions league final on 31May. The league title was already secured with several rounds to spare.
