High Stakes El Clasico: Barcelona's Injury Woes and Madrid's Suspensions Heat Up La Liga Race
After intense Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid & Barcelona, the Spanish giants are set for another high stakes encounter , this time in La Liga.
Clasico Date Set Amid Tight Title Battle
Barcelona'll host Real Madrid at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium (Montjuic) on Sunday 11 May , in Matchday 35 of the Spanish top flight.
The showdown comes with Barca holding narrow 4 point lead over Los Blancos.
But before that, the Catalans must first visit Real Valladolid tonight Matchday 34 at Jose Zorrilla Stadium at 8:00pm GMT time.
Meanwhile Real Madrid face Celta Vigo tomorrow Sunday at 3:00PM at Santiago Bernabeu.
Key Players Missing Ahead of Decisive Clashes
Barcelona have been dealt blow with Jules Kounde ruled out of tonight’s fixture due to an injury sustained against Inter Milan in the Champions league. His availability for El Clasico remains uncertain.
Coach Hansi Flick faces tough balancing act needing points against Valladolid while also preparing for Tuesday’s UCL semi final 2nd leg against Inter.
Flick may rotate his squad with 3 players (Raphinha, Gavi and Inigo Martinez) each one yellow card away from suspension making their participation in the Clásico risky.
Madrid’s Suspensions Puzzle ــــ Caution Required
Real Madrid also have disciplinary concerns ahead of the Barca clash. Lucas Vazquez, Aurelien Tchouameni and Dani Ceballos are all at risk of suspension due to accumulated yellow cards.
All 3 featured from the start in the Copa del Rey final. Carlo Ancelotti may opt to rest Ceballos and field Luka Modrić against Celta Vigo while Fede Valverde could fill in at right back.
But with Eduardo Camavinga sidelined by injury, Tchouameni may be forced to start again potentially partnering Raul Asencio in makeshift defensive role.
