Himad Abdelli responds to simulation accusations after his injury!
Himad Abdelli, Angers star in Ligue 1, was unfortunate not to join the Algerian squad to face Botswana on March 21 in Francistown, as part of the 5th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The midfielder had to withdraw and adds to the list of absentees from the Fennecs' camp, becoming the fourth player forced to miss the matches against Botswana and Mozambique, following Ismaรซl Bennacer, Anthony Mandrรฉa, and Anis Hadj Moussa.
On Instagram, the 25-year-old player posted a strong message in his story:
"So intentional was my injury that I can't join and play for my national team! Take note!"
A clear message in response to accusations from the French media, who suspected him of faking an injury in the 14th minute of the match between Angers and Monaco last Saturday, to allow the Muslim players on the field to break their fast.

Angers speaks out and sets the record straight
Amid the growing controversy and false accusations against Himad Abdelli, the Angers club felt it necessary to respond via an official statement:
"We deplore the unfounded accusations relayed by certain media, suggesting that this injury was faked to allow the breaking of the fast."
The club added:
"The reality is quite different. Proof if needed, the medical examinations conducted by the medical department of his national team, Algeria, confirmed the impossibility for him to honor his international call-up."
And concluded:
"We fully support Himad Abdelli, whose integrity and professionalism should not be questioned. The club firmly condemns any attempt at misinformation that could harm the image of one of its players."
