How did Wydad respond to the news linking Cristiano Ronaldo to the Moroccan club?
Wydad Casablanca have put to rest rumours that the Moroccan club were looking to sign Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo from Saudi Arabia's Al Nasr, after claims suddenly emerged from the Spanish press, led by Marca, that the Moroccan club wanted to acquire Ronaldo's services before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
However, the Portuguese star's future at Al Nasr remains unsettled and uncertain as his contract with the Riyadh-based club expires on 30 June.
According to Marca, the Moroccan club was looking to sign the 39-year-old on a short-term deal to play in the 2025 FIFA club World Cup, which will be held in America from 14 June.
How did Waddad Casablanca respond to these rumours?
An official statement from Wydad president Hicham Aït Menna put an end to these rumours, stating that the Moroccan club has neither the intention nor the financial means to make such a deal happen at this time.
