South Africa national team coach Hugo Broos's announced that he'll retire from football after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A Final Chapter After Decades in the Game

The 73 year old Belgian, appointed in May 2021 has revitalized Bafana Bafana, guiding them to surprise bronze medal at the 2023 Africa cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Broos: "I Won’t Die on the Bench"

"The decision's made. After the World cup, I'll stop. My contract will be finished and I'll stop as coach. I’ve been in football for nearly 40 year and I’m 73. There comes moment when you have to stop. I won’t die on the bench" Broos said.

South Africa currently top their World cup qualifying group with 13 point and are well positioned to book ticket to the 2026 showpiece.

Broos's determined to finish his career on high by leading the team to the global stage one final time.
