Ibrahim Ba's transfer to Strasbourg canceled

A major blow for Strasbourg and Ibrahim Ba. The Senegalese defender’s transfer from Famalicão has been canceled at the last minute.

The 21-year-old Senegalese player arrived in Alsace on Thursday and underwent a medical on Friday. According to L'Équipe, the medical staff at Racing Strasbourg discovered a physical issue with the player.

Everything was nearly complete. Strasbourg had beaten out Benfica with a €15 million offer. Ba was set to sign a four-year contract in France. The former AJEL Rufisque star was expected to become a key figure in coach Hugo Oliveira’s project, having previously worked together at Famalicão.

After picking up an injury, Ibrahim Ba will return to Portugal and Famalicão. The central defender will undergo treatment before resuming his season.
