Interview
At just 19 years old, Ibrahim Maza is stepping up to a new level. After making a name for himself at Hertha Berlin, the Algerian international attacking midfielder has signed a long-term contract with reigning German champions Bayer Leverkusen, keeping him at the club until 2030.
The club officially announced his arrival a few days ago, putting an end to a discreet battle between several top European sides interested in his profile. Having tallied 7 goals and 5 assists in 35 matches across all competitions, Ibrahim Maza is seen as the future of Algerian football. In an interview with rbb24, the young talent didn't hide his excitement:
The level over there [at Leverkusen] will surely be even higher. I'm curious to see if I can keep up and continue to improve. I want to settle in well and quickly find a place to live. Living without my family at first will also be a challenge.
Bayer Leverkusen, known for betting on high-potential youngsters, sees him as a player who can gradually integrate into the first team squad.
