Infantino, the Club World Cup revolution and a tribute to an African legend!
Infantino did not hide his excitement for this groundbreaking edition, declaring: "We want to create a competition that stands alongside the Champions League or the Premier League. From the opening whistle, everyone will realize we are witnessing a historic moment that is redefining global football."
In a powerful statement, he spoke of an iconic figure from the African continent: "A close friend, George Weah, is a true legend. Ballon d'Or winner, the first African to win this prestigious prize... but he never played in a World Cup with his country. If a tournament like this had existed back then, he surely would have taken part."
With these words, Infantino rekindled memories of the former Liberia star, now ex-president of his nation, underscoring the injustice of a talent denied the world's biggest stage.
On the economic front, the FIFA president revealed staggering numbers: "The competition will generate around two billion dollars, and each match will be worth close to 30 million dollars."
But beyond the financial aspect, Infantino was keen to reassure passionate fans: "All matches will be broadcast for free on the DAZN platform. Football belongs to the fans. That's why we want it to be accessible to everyone, everywhere in the world. This is an unprecedented step in the history of sport."
