Inter vs Barça: Inzaghi reveals his plan to "stop Yamal"!
On the eve of the second leg clash against FC Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals, Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has unveiled his strategy to try and contain Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal.
The first leg, hailed as one of the season’s finest spectacles, ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Lamine Yamal dazzled throughout, emerging as the driving force behind Barcelona’s play and the chief architect of their comeback after trailing 2-0.
Inzaghi: "A special marking for Yamal"!
In a press conference, Inzaghi declared: "Yamal? We have to try to prevent him from receiving the ball, but that’s impossible. He’ll be under close watch, with double marking. All our focus will be on him."
He added: "He’s an exceptional talent, truly very dangerous. All his teammates look to get him the ball. What impressed me most is how quickly he makes decisions. He always knows what to do with the ball."
Asked about the availability of Benjamin Pavard and Lautaro Martínez, Inzaghi clarified: "We’ll make a decision with the coaching staff after talking to the players. For Pavard, the signs are encouraging. As for Lautaro, he hasn’t trained since the first leg. We’ll see where he stands today."
On Inter’s chances of qualifying, the Italian coach concluded: "We know how important this match is. We’ll need an extremely high-level performance against a formidable team we’ve already faced. Inter will have to be attentive and fully focused."
He added: "It’s a bit like a final, in front of our supporters. We’re just two games away from a potential title. When I arrived, the team was sixteenth… Now, we’re leading the league."
