The truth about the discussions between Al Ahly and Rashad Metwally
He continued: “Al Ahly has not made any official request to sign Rashad Metwally. There was simply an inquiry in January, after the player was offered to the club by Rabie Yassin.”
Ali Galal then clarified: “The Pyramids club began serious negotiations with Petrojet in January. However, a disagreement over the transfer fee and Petrojet's commitment to the promotion race prevented the deal from materializing.”
He added: “Rashad Metwally is under contract with Petrojet until the end of next season. He wants to take on a new challenge, whether it's with one of the top clubs in Egypt or in the Saudi league. We will take time to consider all offers to choose the best option for him.”
And he concluded: “In Egypt, the clubs closest to signing Rashad are, in order: Al Ahly, then Pyramids, then Zamalek. The player has also received several offers from Al Bank Al Ahly, Al Masry, and Ceramica Cleopatra.”
