Jamal Harkass: Wydad "is ready to give everything" in the United States

Drawn into a fiercely competitive group alongside Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain, Wydad Athletic Club has no intention of just making up the numbers at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Jamal Harkass, the captain of the Moroccan side, approaches the tournament with ambition and determination. In an interview with Africa Soccer, he left no room for doubt:

I respect all these clubs—they are major institutions with world-class players. But in this kind of tournament, it's the little details that make all the difference.

The message is crystal clear: regardless of the prestige of their rivals, Wydad intends to seize every opportunity. Above all, they will play without any inferiority complex:

We have to face them as if they were in our own league. Respect must go both ways. Big names don't play for us. The pitch decides, not the trophy cabinets.

The central defender, an undisputed leader in the dressing room, knows his role goes far beyond the pitch. Motivating, uniting, building team spirit—it's all part of his mission:

I often talk with my teammates about this challenge. They're fully aware of the opportunity before us. They want to prove their worth.

Wydad is not coming to the United States just to make an appearance. The squad is determined to bring its signature identity: discipline, commitment, intensity. "We are ready to give everything. You'll see what we're made of," promises Harkass.

The stage is set. In this group of potential pitfalls, Wydad wants to upset the predictions—and make its name echo at the very highest level.
