In the 71st minute of the match between Lyon and Querétaro in Liga MX, a controversial incident erupted when Colombian James Rodríguez lost his cool and threw his shoe towards the central referee, Hernández.

The former Real Madrid player was fouled by an opposing player in the middle of the field. Although the referee called a foul in his favor, it wasn't enough to calm his anger. He reacted impulsively by throwing his shoe at the referee.

This excessive and inappropriate behavior towards the official led the referee to approach Rodríguez and brandish a yellow card.

Despite the severity of his action, James Rodríguez was fortunate to avoid a red card, with the referee opting only for a warning.

After receiving the yellow card, the 33-year-old continued to express his dissatisfaction to the referee, saying:
"You give me a yellow card? Very well, very well... you're an excellent referee."

The match between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning James Rodríguez and his team, Lyon, continue their streak of poor results. They have not won in their last four matches in Liga MX, with three consecutive losses and one draw.
