June training camp: Mazraoui’s injury complicates Walid Regragui’s plans!
Walid Regragui, head coach of the Moroccan national team, has suffered a significant setback just as he prepares to announce his final squad for the June training camp, following right-back Noussair Mazraoui’s injury on the final day of the Premier League.
The Manchester United defender picked up his injury on Sunday against Aston Villa, during the last matchday of the 2024-2025 English league season.
Major blow for the Atlas Lions: Is Mazraoui set to miss out?
In an official statement, the Manchester club confirmed that the player is suffering from a hamstring injury. He will undergo further medical tests in the coming days to assess the severity and determine how long he’ll be sidelined.
His absence from Manchester United’s Asian tour, where they are set to face the Asia All-Stars and the Hong Kong national team on May 28 and 30, casts doubt over his availability for the Atlas Lions’ training camp. The national team is due to play Tunisia and Benin in friendly matches on June 6 and 9 at the Fès sports complex.
This development adds to a growing list of injury woes for Morocco, with Real Madrid attacking midfielder Brahim Díaz and West Ham centre-back Nayef Aguerd—currently on loan at Real Sociedad—already sidelined.
