Kaizer Chiefs make R10m bid, Pitso Mosimane's talk is on fire
According to media reports, Kaizer Chiefs are said to have earmarked R10 million to bring in Richards Bay right-back Lwandile Mapoya.
Soccer Laduma has confirmed that the club's sporting department is considering several options to strengthen the backline and seems to be favouring Mapoya, with a R10 million bid set to be made to convince his current club.
The source added: ‘The club recognises the player's skills and is preparing a tempting offer that could convince Richards Bay, especially when compared to previous deals with other clubs.’
Mosimane to Kaizer Chiefs?
On the other hand, former club defender, Tsepo Masilela believes the coming weeks will be crucial for the future of current coach Nasreddin Nabi, especially with the club slipping to eighth place in the league, the minimum qualification threshold for the MTN8 Cup.
Speaking to SoccerBeat, Masilela suggested that not achieving goals could jeopardise Nabi's future, saying: ‘Football is all about results and if you finish outside the top eight without winning a trophy, the management will have to make difficult decisions.’
He also put forward Pitso Mosimane, the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach, as a suitable replacement, saying: “There are coaches like Pitso available at the moment, he has a proven track record and knows local football very well. If the club decides to let Nabi go, Pitso could be the best option.”
"There may be clauses in Nabi's contract that require qualifying for the top eight, but it's best to wait until the end of the season, then evaluate performance and make decisions, because the club needs to make bold moves."
