Kaizer Chiefs star is close to leaving the team!

As expected, Kaizer Chiefs will let several of their players leave as they prepare to bring in new names to the team to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Which player is expected to leave Kaizer Chiefs?
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Matlou appears to be heading toward free agency, with his future at the club looking increasingly uncertain. The 26-year-old’s contract is set to expire in June, and the Soweto giants have shown little interest in renewing his deal.
Matlou’s season has been hampered by injuries, limiting him to just eight league appearances since his return on January 5. With his departure seeming inevitable, potential suitors are already emerging.
Reports suggest that AmaZulu FC are monitoring the situation closely. A source revealed, “From what I know, AmaZulu have expressed interest in George Matlou. Discussions might still be in the early stages, but they’ve made inquiries about his availability.”
Another insider confirmed the lack of progress on a contract extension, stating, “There haven’t been any talks about renewing his deal. Since his contract ends in June, he should already have clarity on his future—but right now, nothing is certain. This could open the door for AmaZulu to secure him on a free transfer.”
As things stand, Matlou’s time at Kaizer Chiefs seems to be coming to an end, with a move to AmaZulu a strong possibility in the coming months.
George Matlou's agent talks about the player's future
Kaizer Chiefs have their eye on several midfielders to sign in the upcoming pre-season, including Azam FC's Feisal Salum, so they will presumably drop several players to make room to sign others.
There are no talks at the moment regarding the renewal of his contract, His current contract expires in June this year and by now he should be knowing whether he is staying or not and that’s what could give AmaZulu a chance to sign him for free. His future at Chiefs is not clear.
John Wilson, the player's agent, speaks.
