Kenyan FA Launches Investigation Into Match-Fixing Allegations Against Patrick Matasi

The Football Kenya Federation FKF's opened investigation into allegations linking national team goalkeeper Patrick Matasi to match fixing.

Matasi who plays for Kakamega Homeboyz has earned 30 cap for Kenya with his last appearance coming in October during the africa cup of nations qualifiers.

Viral Video Sparks Investigation

Video circulating online allegedly shows Matasi agreeing to deal to influence league match result. the authenticity of the footage remains unverified by the BBC.

Kakamega Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula commented on the situation, telling the BBC:

“I spoke to him and he was also shocked by the video. He told me he knows nothing about match fixing”.

FKF Vows Zero Tolerance on Match Fixing

The Kenyan FA's pledged to collaborate with FIFA, CAF and other relevant authorities during the investigation.

“We reaffirm our firm stance against match fixing and remain committed to protecting the integrity of our competitions”, FKF stated.

“The investigation'll adhere to FKF’s match fixing regulations & FIFA guidelines to ensure a fair, transparent and thorough process.”

The statement concluded:

“The rights of the player and his club will be respected and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings".
