KFUM Oslo: Bilal Njie scores in win over Vålerenga

Bilal Njie contributed to KFUM Oslo’s victory over Vålerenga (2-1) on Monday, October 12, 2026, in the 23rd round of the Norwegian league. The Somali forward scored his sixth goal of the season in the Eliteserien, confirming a marked improvement on his 2025 statistics.

Trailing after Aaron Kiil Olsen opened the scoring in the 26th minute, KFUM Oslo equalised five minutes later through Njie, who was set up by Jonas Lange Hjorth. Bjørn Martin Kristensen then converted a penalty in the 55th minute to put the hosts ahead. Njie left the pitch in the 73rd minute.

Greater efficiency than in 2025

With six goals in 16 league appearances, Bilal Njie is enjoying a more productive season than the previous one. In 2025, he scored just once in 28 combined matches for KFUM Oslo and Odd. He has therefore already scored five more goals while playing 12 fewer matches.

This improvement is also reflected in his goals-per-match average: approximately 0.38 in 2026, compared with 0.04 in 2025. His return to KFUM Oslo appears to be providing him with a more favourable environment in which to showcase his attacking qualities. The forward, who can operate on the left wing or in a more central role, has rediscovered an efficiency he had not displayed during his previous season.

Also expected to contribute for Somalia

Born in Oslo on June 13, 1998, Njie chose to represent Somalia on the international stage. He also found the net in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring Somalia’s only goal in the 2-1 defeat by Gambia on September 25, 2026. Four days later, he played the entire match in the 2-0 defeat by Ivory Coast.

His club performances are therefore something to monitor for the Somali national team. His ability to score regularly could strengthen the team’s attacking options, although his precise status in the national-team hierarchy requires more detailed data on his playing time and recent call-ups.

Substituted in the 73rd minute against Vålerenga, Njie left the pitch after scoring the equaliser. However, no verified information makes it possible to say that the substitution was injury-related. The reason for his departure and his physical condition remain to be confirmed.
