Lamine Yamal named ambassador for the 2026 World Cup

On Thursday, June 12, Lamine Yamal was officially appointed global ambassador for the FIFA World Cup 2026 by one of the tournament’s main partners. It’s yet another accolade for the young FC Barcelona prodigy, who already represents the future of football.

The tournament, set to take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, promises to be the biggest in history. To mark the symbolic one-year countdown, Visa has chosen to team up with a player just 17 years old whose precocious talent is captivating the world. “Lamine embodies the future of football: bold, spectacular, and full of promise,” said Tarek Abdalla, Visa CEMEA’s Chief Marketing Officer.

But this initiative goes far beyond a mere image campaign. Exclusive experiences will be offered to Visa cardholders: meet-and-greets with Yamal in Barcelona, signed merchandise, and VIP access to select World Cup-related events. It’s a way to bring fans closer to the action and strengthen the bond between passion and technology. Lamine Yamal shared his excitement:

Football is more than just a sport. It’s a joy, a universal language. I’m proud to be able to share this passion with the whole world.
