Laporta makes a decision on the Haaland case: “He is not our priority”!
In an interview with TV3, on the program "La Nit dels Campions" (The Night of Champions), FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta addressed several major topics concerning the club: the state of the club’s finances, contract renewals, objectives for the upcoming summer transfer window, and other important issues.
Finances showing clear improvement
Laporta appeared optimistic about Barça’s financial future:
“We will end the fiscal year with revenue close to 950 million euros. We are projecting a budget exceeding one billion euros for next season. These numbers will allow us to operate under the 1-for-1 rule, which will make Deco’s job in the transfer market much easier.”
He also emphasized: “Working with the 1-for-1 rule is much simpler than the 1-for-4 rule. It supports our plans to strengthen the squad.”
He went on to add: “With this level of income, we are hopeful to return to the 1-for-1 rule in La Liga.”
Laporta confirms Barcelona could sign Haaland: “Nothing is impossible”
Asked about the future of some of the team’s key players, Laporta confirmed: “Lamine Yamal is the future of the club. We will build our project around him. He could shine in any team, but he is happy here, as is his family.”
The Barça president also stated that work is underway to extend the contracts of Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha: “They are important players and we want to renew their contracts.”
Finally, when it comes to a potential move for Erling Haaland, Laporta played down the speculation: “Nothing is impossible in football, but it’s not a current topic. He just extended his contract with Manchester City until 2034.”
