Liga: Barça can clinch the title tonight if…

Barça are just a step away from glory! Matchday 36 of La Liga, which kicks off this Wednesday, May 14, 2025, could see FC Barcelona secure their 28th Spanish league title. Remarkably, the Catalans might be crowned champions without even playing, ahead of their derby against Espanyol on Thursday night (7:30 p.m. GMT).
With a commanding seven-point lead over Real Madrid (82 to 75), Barça could mathematically be crowned champions as early as tonight… provided their great rivals slip up.
Indeed, a draw or a defeat for Real against Mallorca (this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. GMT) would seal the fate of the league.
FC Barcelona on the brink
Even if the two teams end up level on points, the Blaugrana would maintain the advantage thanks to the head-to-head goal difference, a decisive criterion in Spain.
And on that front, Lamine Yamal and his teammates left no room for doubt: two victories over Madrid this season (4-0 in the first leg, 4-3 in the return) give them a decisive edge.
If Real do manage to win tonight, Barça will still have three chances to seal the deal: one victory or two draws would be all they need to officially clinch this latest title.
