Liga: Etta Eyong reignites Levante’s survival hopes

Trailing and then turning the tables, Levante snatched a vital victory over Osasuna (3-2) thanks to a decisive last-gasp goal from Karl Etta Eyong.

Coming off the bench in the 76th minute, the Cameroonian striker struck in the 90th minute to deliver a crucial win for the Granotes on Matchday 35 of La Liga. It was a wild scenario for Levante, who found themselves two goals down after just eleven minutes, only to claw back to 2-2 before halftime.

With this dramatic, hard-fought win, Levante moves temporarily within a point of safety and keeps their hopes of staying in the Spanish top flight alive.

For Karl Etta Eyong, this goal was especially sweet. The Cameroonian international found the net in La Liga for the first time since October, ending a 21-match goal drought in the Spanish league.

With this strike, Etta Eyong now has seven goals and four assists in the league this season. It’s a crucial return to form for the 21-year-old striker, whose name was linked with a move during the last winter transfer window, most notably to CSKA Moscow—a destination he ultimately turned down.

If Levante manage to stay up at the end of the season, this goal could well go down as one of the defining moments of their campaign.
