Linafoot DRC: Don Bosco halts the Eagles of Congo's momentum

The Samurai's unbeaten streak came to an end this Wednesday, May 7. FC Les Aigles du Congo fell 2-1 to CS Don Bosco at the Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi, in a dramatic showdown as part of the Congolese Linafoot Playoffs.

The Eagles dominate the first half

From the very start, Helton Kayembe's men showed their intent. Their dominance paid off in the 28th minute when Kashala Wanet brilliantly finished a near-post cross to beat AimΓ© Bakula.

Don Bosco, uninspired in the first half, headed to the locker room deservedly behind.

Don Bosco strikes late

After the break, the Salesians raised their game. Despite a scrappy second half, they found the breakthrough in the 90th minute as Kyembe Losambo powered home an unstoppable header from a corner.

Rattled, the Eagles then made a costly error: Moba handled the ball in the box after a reckless goalkeeper intervention. Red card and penalty.

Elie Kitobo kept his cool and converted from the spot. Don Bosco thus secures a third consecutive win and moves within three points of the Eagles (12 pts to 9). The battle for the African spots is wide open.
