Linafoot: FC Les Aigles du Congo, new leaders of the championship!

FC Les Aigles du Congo clinched a precious victory on Wednesday, May 14, edging out AS Maniema Union by the narrowest of margins (0-1) at the Stade Tata Raphaël.

Thanks to this win, the “Samurais” reclaim the top spot in the Playoff standings, just days after their setback against CS Don Bosco in Lubumbashi.

The first half proved to be a balanced affair, with both sides struggling to dictate the tempo in a tense contest.

However, right after the break, Les Aigles du Congo raised their game. In the 54th minute, following a well-executed counterattack, Linda Mtange—set up by Kikwama Mujinga—broke the deadlock, beating goalkeeper Brudel Efonge.

A major achievement for the Samurais!

Trailing on the scoreboard, Maniema Union pushed hard in the final half-hour, piling on the pressure. But keeper Basadila pulled off several crucial saves to safeguard his side's advantage.

It’s the second defeat for the Kindu club, who remain third with 15 points. Meanwhile, Les Aigles du Congo also have 15 points and move into first place thanks to a superior goal difference.

A remarkable feat for a team founded just a few months ago, in August 2023.
