Among the names being considered, Andoni Iraola appears to be in pole position. The former Bournemouth boss made a strong impression with the quality of his work in the Premier League, notably steering his side to a remarkable sixth-place finish despite a heavily overhauled squad.
According to information from David Ornstein of The Athletic, other managers are also on the Reds' radar, such as Sebastian Hoeneß and Pierre Sage. Nevertheless, Iraola is currently considered to have the edge, thanks in large part to the backing of sporting director Richard Hughes, who knows his profile inside out.
