Lorient interested in Mamadou Diop

FC Lorient is not looking to simply make up the numbers in Ligue 1. Newly promoted this season, Les Merlus are already active in the transfer market. Among the targets, Mamadou Diop is drawing particular attention.

The Mauritanian international goalkeeper is coming off an impressive season with Grenoble Foot 38 in Ligue 2. Strong on his line and commanding in the air, he played 30 matches across all competitions. His stats: 41 goals conceded, 7 clean sheets, and several decisive performances.
At 25 years old, Mamadou Diop is seen as one for the future.

He is under contract with GF38 until 2028, so any transfer won't be straightforward. But according to Foot Mercato, Lorient seems determined to bring him in, convinced by his potential and room for development. The Breton club wants to build a competitive squad to secure their survival in the top flight. And that starts with solidity at the back.
