Arriving in Lille in 2020 from Gent, the Canadian striker will play his final match in Lille colors on Saturday against Reims at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium.
In a moving video posted on social media, the 25-year-old international shared a heartfelt message with the fans:
"After all these years at the club, the time has come to say goodbye. I hope I was able to bring you joy with my goals and my celebrations," he said, also thanking his teammates, coaches, and everyone at the club. Video:
David, third-highest scorer in club history!
Despite a challenging start, David established himself as one of LOSC’s offensive pillars. With 109 goals in 231 appearances, he leaves as the third-highest scorer in the club’s history, trailing only Jean Baratte and André Strappe.
Currently tied for fifth in Ligue 1, Lille must win on the final matchday to keep their Champions League hopes alive. It’s one last chance for David to shine and bid farewell to the North as a hero.
