Spanish press reports have revealed that a Qatari club is interested in signing Croatian player Luka Modrić, captain of Real Madrid, during the next summer transfer window.

Marca: Strong Qatari interest in Luka Modrić!

According to an article from the Spanish newspaper Marca, the Qatari league is looking to attract the 39-year-old player after his contract with the Merengues expires.

The newspaper notes that Real Madrid has yet to reach an agreement with Modrić to renew his contract, which ends in June of this year, leaving all possibilities open regarding his departure to oil-rich countries or a potential last-minute contract extension, as happened last season.

Despite offers from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the captain of the Croatian team remains committed to his dream of finishing his career with the Madrid club. He wishes to continue playing at the highest level and extend his career until the 2026 World Cup, which is set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Modrić previously stated to the channel (Téléfoot): "For now, I'm not thinking about retirement, but as I've always said, I would like to end my career at Real Madrid... It would be a dream for me."

He added: "We'll see what happens. There are still many games to play this season, and I want to focus on what's left. I'm not in a hurry."

Modrić is tied to Real Madrid until the end of the current season. Since joining the club, he has played 582 matches in all competitions, scoring 43 goals and providing 93 assists to his teammates.
