Luther Singh on target as AEL Limassol go top
Bafana Bafana forward Luther Singh found the back of the net as AEL Limassol beat Omonia Aradippou 2-0 in the Cyprus First Division over the weekend.
The 29-year-old attacker broke the deadlock in the 61st minute, before Geoffrey Chinedu put the game to bed two minutes later.
Limassol, as a result, are two points clear at the summit of the Cyprus topflight division, having accumulated 15 points in their opening six games of the season.
Singh, meanwhile, has taken his tally to two goals and as many assists in six league outings - this after recently being named vice-captain at the club.
He has a contract that will keep him at Limassol until May 2027, having joined the six-time Cypriot champions in July 2024 as a free agent.
His fine performances in Cyprus have earned him a long-awaited return to the Bafana Bafana fold under head coach Pitso Mosimane.
Singh repaid the faith shown in him by scoring in the 5-0 rout of Eritrea in the 2027 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers last month.
With his team set to swing back to action with the Limassol derby against Aris Limassol, the South Africa international will be eager to maintain momentum.
