According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks between Manchester City and Lyon are already well underway. Cherki's transfer could see a significant acceleration as early as next week.

The deal is expected to surpass €30 million, underlining the Mancunian club's faith in the 20-year-old's potential.

In a post on his official X account, Romano stated:

"Manchester City and Olympique Lyonnais are in direct negotiations for Rayan Cherki.
The deal could move forward quickly next week.
The expected fee exceeds €30 million, and City are confident it will be done.
The plan remains unchanged: finalize the arrivals of Cherki and Reijnders in the coming days."

Manchester City wants to wrap up Rayan Cherki's transfer as soon as possible, allowing him to integrate with the squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be held for the first time with 32 participating clubs from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.
