Manchester United: The worst season… but a European final

Manchester United continues to surprise everyone. Struggling in the Premier League with 16 defeats already, the Red Devils have booked their place in the Europa League final after a commanding 4-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao.

Beaten 3-0 in the first leg, the Spaniards still believed in their chances. Especially since they opened the scoring at Old Trafford in the 31st minute with a stunning strike from Jauregizar. Manchester United, for their part, looked lost—until the 72nd minute. That’s when Mason Mount equalized and turned the match on its head. Afterwards, Casemiro, Hojlund, and Mount (again) piled on the goals against a Basque side running on empty. Plagued by several absences, Bilbao simply couldn’t withstand United’s relentless pressure.

Despite a very lackluster season, Manchester United will now play an all-English final against Tottenham. Coach Ruben Amorim is determined to salvage his year with a trophy—and a Champions League spot.
